NORTH KORDOFAN: Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has distributed 850 food baskets to displaced families in the Um Rawaba locality of North Kordofan State, Sudan.
This assistance, which reached 850 families, is part of the third phase of the 2025 Food Security Support Project targeting vulnerable communities in Sudan.
The humanitarian situation in Sudan has reached critical levels as the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, ongoing since April 2023, continues to devastate the country.
The conflict, marked by power struggles and international involvement, has led to the deaths of approximately 150,000 people and forced nearly 13 million to flee their homes, making Sudan the site of the world’s largest displacement crisis.
Amid this crisis, the United Nations and the World Food Programme have raised alarms over escalating hunger, with more than 30 million Sudanese in urgent need of humanitarian aid.
Famine has been confirmed in at least 10 regions across the country making it the most severe hunger emergency in Sudan’s recent history.
KSrelief’s latest distribution in North Kordofan is part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to providing life-saving support to those affected by the crisis in Sudan.
Through KSrelief, Saudi Arabia aims to mitigate the suffering of the Sudanese people and enhance food security in the region.
